2004 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale
I understand Robert Parker's palette more and more with each wine I try he rates highly. This 2004 Shirvington Shiraz is a 95 point Parker wine. This wine isn't like the R Wines "Southern Belle" which is a motor oil made from Shiraz that will ruin your taste buds for the rest of the day. No, no, this is a soft smack from a Nerf bat swung by a beautiful maiden wearing velvet gloves. It's power and beauty together.
Not cheap. The best ones usually aren't, right? But if you want to know where the money goes in a big Australian McLaren Vale Shiraz, I would suggest starting here.
This dropped a fair amount of sediment so do decant or be prepared to scare your friends with a large deposit of dark maroon poo in the glass. Getting past that, you find that this is a smooth and powerful monster that makes you wonder why you don't drink more Shiraz instead of big Californian Cabs.
I can't say much more than that. Get this one. I've seen them on the net as low as $29!! Retail is $75.
T-Scale 94!! Yeah, it's that good. Parker gives it a 94 but gives the '02 a 99!!!! Yikes... I have to find one.
